The Local NYC

This is my favorite hostel in NYC. I’ve been to about 100 hostels all over the world and The Local NYC is in the top group of the very best hostels according to international standards.

The community and administration at the Local Hostel helped me during the hardest experience of my life- and they made it a pleasure. I don’t know what I would have done without them…

The local hostel is run with kindness and compassion, excellent boundaries, and safe protocol. They go over and above to provide a safe, beautiful, and fun environment…

LIC is a treat. It has some of the best views in all of NYC- the boardwalk being a destination in itself. It’s very gentrified so it has nice restaurants, cafes, and nightlife. The rooftop of the hostel has a magnificent view. The facility is absolutely gorgeous with industrial/ loft/ minimalist architecture and interior design. It’s also super clean.

It’s the best hostel that I’ve ever stayed at. Everything about it is great: facilities, cleanliness, comfort, location, etc. But, the best part about is the people. They make you feel welcome from the moment you walk through the entrance.

One of my favorite things is having a bar on site — and the best bartender by far is Saray, beautiful person inside and out, welcoming, incredibly friendly, and exceptional work ethic. She manages to do her job efficiently while at the same time making you feel like you have her undivided attention. She greets everyone who walks through the door and directs them to the check-in desk. The moment someone walks up to the bar, she greets them and is ready to make whatever they want to drink, even coffee drinks in the evening. She’s worth her weight in gold!

I look forward to coming back and high recommend it to anyone coming to New York. 10/10

This is the nicest hostel I stayed in in all of my international trips. The staff is good, the location is very good and easy to find. I found various options to have good food nearby as a vegan. All of the amenities, restaurants, and subways are available within a five to 10 minute walk. I must recommend this hostel as your primary stay place on a decent budget, if you’re visiting N.Y.C.

Fantastic hostel with amazing staff who are there to sort any queries 24/7. Stayed for 5 nights, going into central park/times square area daily, which took 30 minutes and cost $3- way cheaper than getting a hostel in the center! The queens location feels super safe as a female traveller, and the hostel takes under 21s in all female rooms which was perfect for me!

My highlight was the rooftop seating area where you could eat with the most spectacular view.

Just had a great 3 night stay in s private queen room. Loved the location and the vibes of the hostel. Staff was super nice. Room was very clean with high ceilings and also a decent little amenities basket. The bathroom set up was weird but fine. No coffee or TV, but honestly I just steamed on my phone. I was barely in the room except to sleep and shower. Would stay again. Felt very safe.

The Local is absolutely amazing, as someone who hotel hops frequently, this place is very comfortable and a solid overall package. The #1 highlight here is the staff, they’re all very accommodating, friendly and always willing to help – Especially Sandy and the overnight staff. I love that the lobby area is split into a “chill” area and a separate co-working space, the bar and multiple restaurants in walking distance makes this the perfect place to camp out all day and head back up to the room to sleep.

The beds are very comfortable, they provide high quality duvets and the AC works super well in the summer.

Being a hostel, I got to meet so many new people, and I can confidently say the crowd here is generally well mannered, respectful and considerate of the shared space with others – this is coming from someone who has stayed here for over 20 days, in 7 different rooms. 10/10 would recommend. Especially for the price you’re paying, can’t go wrong, this is the best bang for your buck you’ll get anywhere in NYC.
