The race day is almost here! After last year’s cancellation due to Hurricane Sandy, this Sunday’s race means more to the city than ever before. Snaking runners through all five boroughs, the ING Marathon is a unique opportunity for runners to experience all of New York and for New York spectators to pull together to cheer on some amazing athletes. On Sunday, November 3rd, the first group departs Staten Island at 9:40am and will be making their way through our neighborhood shortly thereafter.
The Queens portion of the race runs right through LIC and just a couple of blocks from us! Miles 13-16, runners will make their way over the Pulaski Bridge from Greenpoint, Brooklyn into our hood. After running up Vernon Boulevard, they’ll head east on 44th Drive for mile #15. Just two blocks away from The Local, we’ll definitely be out there cheering the runners on.
