Think of The Local as your New York home.  We’re your best friend in New York but you get to sleep in stylish and clean bunk rooms instead of on our couch.  Our fridge is always stocked, we always know what’s happening, and we’ve been waiting all year for your visit.  We’re the newcomers to the edgy LIC neighborhood in Queens.  Our skyline views are the best and we’re just a couple of subway stops from Manhattan and Brooklyn.  Our neighbors are artists, gymrats, actors, and mechanics.  The city never sleeps but sometimes we like to.

When you stay with us, you’re local

Lee comes from Chicago but has since lived in Philadelphia, Manhattan (Battery Park City), Barcelona, Paris, and now LIC.  She speaks Spanish and you can put her French and Catalan to the test.  She is always on the hunt for a killer cocktail and looks forward to sharing her favorite spots with you.

Lauren

Lauren

Lauren’s roundabout journey to LIC has included Chicago; Washington, DC; Chile, London, Hong Kong, Milan, Barcelona, and Philadelphia.  She’s a woman of the world and quick with neighborhood advice.  If you’re looking to eat the best of anything, get Lauren’s attention.  She speaks Spanish and can fake it pretty well in French, Italian, and Catalan.  Just try her.

Sophia

Reception

Always having an interest in travel, Sophia likes to escape NYC whenever she can. When at home her hobbies include photography and biking while exploring surrounding neighborhoods. She loves the outdoors and has a deep appreciation for nature. Sophia looks forward to meeting diverse people from all over the world and help make their stay at the Local an unforgettable one.

Jenny

Bartender

Jenny is one of our fiery bartenders and started working at the Local in April. She is an aspiring actress in NYC and is in an off-broadway play this summer. She has lived in the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Argentina and, most recently in Madrid, where she led pub crawl tours for a hostel— AKA: she knows how to party. Come grab a drink and chat with her at our bar.

Seth

Barista - Bartender

Seth is a performance and visual artist based in Brooklyn. He loves sharing his knowledge about interesting performance and art events going on in NYC. Find him in the café for delicious coffee, beer, or wine.. and a chat!

Jorge

Mr. Coffee

A Puerto Rico native turned New Yorker, Jorge is the newest Barista on our team. Come visit him for a delicious latte or a mean mojito or just to chat about the best happy hours around the city.

Matt

That Guy

A self proclaimed beer connoisseur and foodie, Matt can often be found enjoying a NY craft brew in and around LIC. He also loves all things Brooklyn, so check in with him for unique sight seeing ideas off of the beaten path.

Joe Z.

Bartender Extraordinaire

Originally from the Chicago area, Joe has been in NYC for 17 years and is a proud Astoria, Queens resident. He makes a mean cocktail, and is filled with recommendations for cool things to do in NYC. Joe is an aspiring filmmaker, and is also very interested in music, food, and travel. He loves making new friends whenever he tends bar!

Gina

Receptionist, Barista, and Sometime-ish Bartender

Native NYC girl raised in Queens; Gina is an aspiring anesthesiologist with a passion for travel. You can blame her love of food on her Caribbean roots. She would be more than happy to point you in the direction of New York's best-kept secret dining spots as well as hush-hush shopping.
